Obviously, unless I visit a medical professional and get hooked up to a machine for a night, there’s no way for me to definitively prove that Fitbit’s sleep tracking is accurate, but going by feel, I believe it is. The latter–sleep tracking–is in my opinion the best among consumer wearables, showing me not just how many hours I’ve slept, but sleep cycles and when I was in deep-sleep state. Fitbit has a long history of making fitness trackers–and I’ve used more than a half dozen of its products–so I can vouch that its steps, heart rate, and sleep tracking are among the most accurate in the industry. Most actions require just a couple of swipes and taps to activate. The FitbitOS that runs here is clean and intuitive to use. Software: better than WearOS, that’s for sure But it does support NFC (Near Field Communication) for digital payments. ben Sinįitbit’s watch, likely to keep the price low, also lacks built-in GPS support, so you will need to have a phone with you if you want to track runs. The Fitbit Versa 2 has a heartrate sensor. Though, I must mention here, the Versa 2 is priced at US$199, half the price of the Apple Watch Series 5, so the lack of hardware flourishes are excusable. There’s a sizable bezel around the screen that is clearly visible when the watch display is off whereas on the Apple Watch, the bezels are thinner and curves into the chassis, giving Apple’s screen a more seamless look. The Versa 2 has a 1.4-inch OLED screen that gets bright and vibrant, but the panel is not built as nicely as on the Apple Watch. ![]() I want a future in which all gadgets are charged via USB-C. Around the back is a heart rate sensor, and four pogo pins that charge the device, though unfortunately, the charger is proprietary. ![]() There’s a single physical button on the left side of the watch, with most in-watch actions triggered by taps and swipes. ![]() Whatever the case, the Versa 2 fits nicely with a traditional rubber watchstrap with over a dozen notches to fit just about any wrist size. ![]() Whether it’s the square-with-rounded-corners shape to dark grey aluminum finishes, its a clean and visually appealing design, but one that could be accused by Apple fans of not being original.
